Yelp Leads Not Responding? Why Quote Requests Go Quiet and What Gets a Reply

October 26, 2026 · by Arsen, founder of WarmReply

You answer a Yelp quote request, and then nothing. No reply, no call, no booking. It is one of the most common complaints from service businesses on Yelp, and it usually has less to do with the lead than with what happened in the first hour. Here is why Yelp leads go quiet, and what gets more of them to answer.

Are Yelp leads real?

Request-a-Quote leads come from real Yelp users who filled in a request for your kind of job, usually with details like the job type, their ZIP code and their dates. Yelp also notes that some of these customers are early in their decision and “not ready to spend” yet. So most silent leads are not fake. They are people who either chose someone else, were not ready, or never saw a reason to reply to you specifically.

Why do Yelp leads stop responding?

1. Someone else answered first. Yelp says customers are likely checking out several businesses at once, and that the longer you wait, the more likely another business secures the job. A reply three hours later arrives after the customer has already started a conversation with someone else.

2. The reply didn’t answer their question. “Thanks for reaching out, give us a call!” asks the customer to do more work and tells them nothing. Yelp’s own guidance is that customers are 2x more likely to respond when a pro replies within an hour and addresses the project details and questions. Speed gets you seen. Specifics get you a reply.

3. There was no price signal. Yelp recommends responding with detailed price estimates. Customers comparing three businesses tend to reply to the one that gave them a number, or at least a range and what it depends on.

4. There was no clear next step. A message that ends without a question or an action leaves the customer nothing to answer. End with one thing for them to do: confirm a date, send a photo, pick a time for a call.

5. Nobody followed up. Yelp’s advice includes following up if you don’t hear back. Customers who were undecided often reply to a short, friendly second message a day later.

6. The customer can’t easily reach you outside Yelp. Yelp leads arrive with a masked email, and a phone number only if the customer chooses to share one. That means the Yelp thread is often the only channel you have, so it has to be answered where the customer will see it. More on that in why Yelp leads have no email or phone number.

What gets Yelp leads to reply?

How do you reply within minutes when nobody is watching the Yelp app?

That is the part most businesses struggle with, because Yelp is one more inbox. If your team works in HighLevel (GoHighLevel), WarmReply puts every Yelp Request-a-Quote conversation into HighLevel Conversations, next to every other lead. An optional instant greeting, written by you, goes out within seconds of each new lead, and your team’s replies from the CRM are delivered into the same Yelp thread.
